Beer Festivals Around The World |
Beer takes an important place in the culture of many countries in the
world. Every country celebrates the particular beer brewing at certain
times of the year. This depends upon the time the beer is produced. A
beer festival is a wonderful way to try a large variety of beers
available for tasting and purchasing and to learn a lot of interesting
information about beer and breweries. A beer fest gives great
opportunities to meet brewers and other beer fans. If you are concerned
with brewing your own beer at home you will have a chance to acquire
knowledge about peculiarities of brewing processes.
Oktoberfest beer festival is known to be the largest and the most well
known beer fest in the world. It is held in Germany every year. This
festival usually lasts for about two weeks and implies celebration of a
harvest beer named Oktoberfest. A lot of countries have adopted this
beer event. Many German people living outside Germany are
known
to celebrate it. There are usually large tents with tables and chairs
where every person interested can try different beers. Live bands are
invited to perform on the stage during the festival.
In the United Kingdom, the Great British Beer Festival takes place
every year in August. Usually it is held in the capital of the country
and is considered to be the largest well known beer fest in Great
Britain. British beer events are organized by CAMRA (the Campaign for
Real Ale). The British beer festivals are different from those held in
Germany. Barrels of beer produced by different brewers are placed
behind table rows. Special personnel serve the ale from the barrels and
take payment which is made in the form of cash or through a system of
tokens bought at the entrance of the venue. GBBF's brother festival,
the National Winter Beer Festival held in January is known to emphasize
such beer styles as porter and stout.
The European beer festival is represented by such events as Copenhagen
Beer Festival, Belgrade Beer Fest, the Czech beer festival (Pilsner
Fest) and many others. The Belgian beer festival called
BAB-bierfestival is held every year in November and attracts lots of
beer connoisseurs.
In the United States the annual event known as the Great American Beer
Festival is held. It lasts for three days and takes place at the end of
September not at the quay in New York as many could think but in
Denver. Beer lovers have the opportunity to try more than 1,000
different beers. Breweries present booths offering one-ounce cups of
their beer. Every year the festival becomes larger.
If you are interested in beer events in your country you can find more
about them by searching in the Internet for the beer organizations in
your area. They are known to promote their festivals by giving a
calendar and information on how to travel to the place for the fest.
